Below is a description of each round, the scoring, rules and prizes for Cover Wars.

Rounds

SEMI-FINAL: This is the 1st Round Cover Wars. The band that advances to the Final will be determined by a 50-50 Fan and Judge Vote.

CHAMPIONSHIP: The winner of Cover Wars will be chosen by a 50-50 Fan and Judge Vote.

Rules

FAN VOTING: When fans vote, the rule will be one ballot per person. Band members will not be eligible to vote. The band that receives the most fan votes will get 10 points. The band that receives the 2nd most fan votes will receive 8 points. The band with the 3rd most fan votes gets 6 points. Bands that finish 4th or lower in the fan votes will get 4 points.

JUDGES VOTING: Judges will rank the bands as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Bands will be awarded 10 points for each 1st place ranking. 8 points for each 2nd place ranking. 6 points for each 3rd place ranking. 4 points for each 4th place or lower ranking. The average score of the Judges will be applied to determine winner of Cover Wars.

TIE BREAKER: In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be Fan Vote. If that does not break the tie, a Judge(s) re-vote will break the tie.

SET LENGTH: Bands will play a 25 minute set of cover material.

Prizes

• 1st place grand prize is $500 cash. A 10 hour recording package with Chapman Recording Studios. A Cover Wars trophy cup. And a Friday night show at Harrah's VooDoo Lounge.

• 2nd Place will receive 5 hours at Chapman Recording. And a Friday night show at Harrah's VooDoo Lounge.

• Remaining Finalists will receive 5 hours at Chapman Recording.

Entering

ELIGIBILITY: For bands to be eligible they must have at least 2 members and be based in Kansas or Missouri.

NO ENTRY FEE: Bands interested in playing Cover Wars need to contact Jim Kilroy by phone or e-mail.
